As we turn the page on a new fiscal year, here is a look back on EN’s retail operations during fiscal year 2022. There were many challenges for nonprofit organizations and retailers this year. Nationwide labor shortages, global supply chain disruptions, and rising gas prices were just some of the obstacles Eastern National staff had to navigate.

OBXF Receives $167,000 in Grants from Outer Banks Visitors Bureau

Outer Banks Forever is thrilled to announce it has been awarded two Tourism Impact Grants from the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau! The first grant of $34,595 was awarded for the replacement of the weather signal tower at the historic Weather Bureau Station on Hatteras Island.

Farewell to Monique

The EN team expresses gratitude to Monique VanLandingham, WASO Program Manager for Cooperating Associations & Partnerships, Interpretation, Education, and Volunteers, for more than ten years of dedication to the National Park Service, and her for support of Eastern National and cooperating associations. Monique transitioned from the National Park Service to the private sector earlier this month. Over her 10 years of service, Monique was a strong supporter of cooperating associations and their educational missions.

Return of Aid to Parks

Despite the many challenges and severe financial impact the pandemic had on Eastern National in Fiscal Years 2020 and 2021, we have recovered nicely. Eastern National had a record sales year in FY 2022 of over $47.3M, an 8% increase over 2019. It was our highest sales year ever.

Call for 2022 Staff and Partnership Awards

Eastern National values the contributions of its staff and partners in furthering our mission. Our awards program was designed to highlight outstanding individual contributions that have had significant impact on Eastern National or a specific location, by a specific achievement or by promoting relationships with our partners. Nominations for awards should only be submitted for the most exemplary employees and partners.

This year, the following criteria should be considered for all nominations:

– Commitment to Partnership and EN’s Mission
– Attention to Employee and Visitor Safety
– Creativity and Extraordinary Effort in Supporting EN’s Return to the Summit

Please note which awards are for EN employees only, NPS employees only, or both EN and NPS employees. Nominations are due by Friday, January 13, 2023.
