Passport Program Helps Celebrate Ranger Betty’s 100th Birthday
Earlier this fall, Eastern National’s Passport To Your National Parks® helped celebrate Ranger Betty Reid Soskin’s 100th birthday. In recognition of the big 1-0-0, Eastern National’s Passport team worked with the National Park Service to create a special edition fixed-date September 22 Passport stamper.
Ranger Betty’s birthday month kicked off on September 1 with social media posts from the main park service accounts announcing the availability of the stamps. Birthday wishes immediately started pouring in for Ranger Betty as followers from all corners of the country learned more about her story. A press release from the Office of Communications announcing the special stamp was picked up by NPR, the Washington Post, People Magazine, and more.
Visitors to Rosie the Riveter/WWII Home Front NHP can find the special stamp at the Visitor Center through the end of the year. Those unable to make the journey to California can learn about Ranger Betty’s story and download the special edition Virtual Cancellation here.
