Megan Shelley Cartwright Appointed as New Chief Operating Officer for EN
On January 30 Eastern National’s board voted to promote Megan Shelley Cartwright to Eastern National’s Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. Filling this position is part of the organization’s regional realignment and will allow increased capacity for Eastern National to support the people, resources and processes of our stores in the field and our park partners.
Megan has served as Director of Retail for Eastern National since joining the organization’s senior leadership team in 2015. Megan’s new role focuses primarily on operational resources, IT infrastructure, inventory management, and training and development, an area that Megan has been championing since introducing the Passport to Excellent Customer Service initiative in all of Eastern National’s stores in 2015. “Paying attention to consistent processes, staff development, and store operations has created new opportunities for growth in our partnerships and for our employees,” explains Megan. The first year of the Passport to Excellent Customer Service program saw an enormous lift in Secret Shopper scores company-wide, underscoring that investment in standardizing field-level processes is crucial for long-term success. “Ultimately this all links back to our mission and as we strive to offer the best delivery of educational experiences, products, and services,” she notes.
“Megan’s achievements at Eastern National have helped us accomplish new efficiencies throughout the organization,” says Kevin Kissling, Eastern National’s president and chief executive officer. “Having the agility to meet increased needs for individual parks is critical, and ensuring consistency in operations will help open future opportunities as we achieve our strategic goals.” Megan’s appointment as chief operating officer yields additional opportunities within Eastern National’s regional realignment to build smoother operations and improve the ability of field staff to accelerate mission delivery and growth by developing more strategic relationships with park partners.
Megan first joined Eastern National in 2004 as a unit manager at the Independence Visitor Center store. She subsequently joined SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment, where she was vice president of merchandise operations, before rejoining Eastern National as director of retail. A self-professed history nerd and fan of anything related to Alexander Hamilton, Megan enjoys visiting historic homes and has already accumulated over 100 stamps in her Passport. She is passionate about educational retail, merchandising, and professional development. A graduate of Pennsylvania State University, Megan is currently pursuing her M.S. in Nonprofit Leadership at La Salle University.
