Since March, Eastern National has been operating in what we define as a crisis phase. For a non–profit organization that relies primarily on earned income from the sale of educational products and services, our organization has been negatively impacted by store closures for over three months. Eastern National Strike Teams Convene to Develop Solutions for Operations Going Forward
In May 2020, Eastern National launched 10 strike teams to develop strategies to guide our work going forward. Our overarching goal for the foreseeable future is a return to financial stability. Teams are focused on four priorities that will help us reach that goal: safety, employee retention, cash flow, and profitability. The work our strike teams do will help to develop our policies and plans for how EN operates this year. It will also outline where we will focus our time and resources for the remainder of 2020. Eastern National’s 2019 annual report is now available. The report provides an illustrated narrative of the many ways that our activities and aid to parks assisted the National Park Service and other public lands partners we served in fiscal year 2019.
In Memoriam: Tripp Bates
It was with profound feelings of sadness that the staff of Eastern National recently had to say goodbye to our colleague Kevin “Tripp” Bates. Tripp, who passed away on April 27, 2020, was regional manager of EN’s Carolinas Region. He was a longtime member of the EN family—having recently marked his 20-year anniversary in 2019. Tripp joined EN in 1999 as site manager at Fort Sumter National Monument. He advanced to assistant regional manager in December 2007 and became a regional manager in January 2009. Read more…
