A major objective of Eastern National’s strategic plan is to replace our POS system and choosing Erply represents a big step forward in reaching this goal.
ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning—a term for a software system that manages company resources. Because Erply is a retail ERP, it will help Eastern National manage stores, products, vendors, inventory, customers, and warehouses.
“Our new POS system is built to accommodate the unique way we do business,” said Scott Grabus, EN’s director of information technology. “Due to the varying needs of our individual locations, no single product exists that will fix every impediment we face with our current POS system, but Erply gets us close.”
Erply operates in real-time; sales transactions, transfers, and receipts will sync to a cloud-hosted database immediately instead of once a day to an on-premise server as the current system does. Erply is intuitive, easy to use, and provides web-based sales information, reports, transfers, and other metrics—the backend and administrative features are available any time and any place through a web browser.
Eastern National’s first priority is to convert existing POS stores that use Microsoft RMS software to Erply. Concurrently, we will work with Erply to assess additional resources needed to implement Erply POS at manual locations, which will happen over a multiyear process. We will continue to use many of the current features in ENOnline until a new solution is in place.
At this time, we are enlisting an internal implementation team, sharing our processes with Erply experts, and beginning to convert and move RMS data to Erply. We anticipate that the behind-the-scenes work will take at least three or four months. Training plans are being developed, and we will build training programs and resources for staff over the course of our implementation phase.
Erply will be a long-term business partner that will be able to recommend changes to Eastern National’s processes based on best practices in the retail industry. We will learn and grow with them. As we progress in the implementation process, we’ll continue to share the details with our staff and partners.
