Eastern National Board Elects Two New Members
This spring Charley Money and David Vela were elected to Eastern National’s Board of Directors for four-year terms. Both new board members bring significant experience in public lands leadership and engaging a new generation of park stewards.
Charley Money retired as Executive Director of Rocky Mountain Conservancy in 2017, capping a long career in public lands nonprofit leadership. He also held positions with Alaska Geographic, Golden Gate National Park Conservancy, Western National Parks Association, and the National Park Service. Throughout his career Charley has offered training and mentoring to nonprofit organizations.
David Vela most recently served as Deputy Director, Exercising the Authority of the Director of the National Park Service, before retiring in September 2020 after a 30-year career with the agency. During his tenure Mr. Vela championed “NPS NEXT, A Second Century of Service,” an initiative designed to modernize the agency’s business practices, and engage a new, diverse generation of resource conservation stewards to the NPS mission.
“Charley and David are exciting additions to our board,” said EN President & CEO Kevin Kissling. “As visitation resumes at national parks in the coming months and years, it is more important than ever to have insight into how we can best collaborate with partners to provide educational experiences that meet today’s needs.”
On March 24, 2021, Bill McKendree was selected as new Chair and Susan Schroeder was selected as new Vice Chair. Bill replaces Deb Yandala, who has completed her term on the Board of Directors. We thank Deb for her years of dedicated service to Eastern National.
