We’re happy to share that Eastern National’s Checkout Counter Donations Program (CCDP) debuted in 2024, raising nearly $70,000 during its pilot phase. The program was introduced in 20 stores across 14 National Park Service units, selected for their geographic diversity, thematic alignment, sales performance, and fee collection status.

The CCDP supported key initiatives such as historic preservation, cannon restoration, interpretive programming, and Junior Ranger activities. CCDP donations supported the Junior Ranger program at Mammoth Cave NP, cannon restoration at Fort Sumter & Fort Moultrie NHP, increased accessibility at Wright Brothers NM, and more.

Visitors were invited to contribute a $1 donation, or any amount, at checkout. The program’s success was reflected in an average donation rate of over 1% of sales per store—on par with similar programs run by peer organizations. The positive results from the pilot signal a promising future for the CCDP, highlighting the generosity of park visitors and the potential to expand support for critical NPS programs.
