Eastern National Partners with National Park Service to Create Passport To Your National Parks® Junior Ranger Edition

Eastern National is excited to announce the Passport To Your National Parks® Junior Ranger Edition, a new collaboration with the National Park Service (NPS) in 2018.  The latest addition to the Passport family, the new book replaces the current Kids’ Companion version.

The Junior Ranger Passport was developed in close cooperation with NPS to complement and encourage participation in national park Junior Ranger programs. Full of vivid illustrations from renowned artist Dave Klug, the Junior Ranger Passport is designed to maximize the amount of interactive educational content while dedicating ample space to collect official park cancellations and Junior Ranger cancellations, offering a new activity to complement existing Junior Ranger programs.

The specially designed Junior Ranger cancellations resemble the badges earned by visitors who complete Junior Ranger programs, including the name of each park.  NPS staff will be able to administer the stamp at their discretion to anyone who takes the Junior Ranger oath to Explore, Learn, and Protect. Official Junior Ranger cancellations are being shipped to every national park site that currently offers a Junior Ranger program.

“We conducted a survey of more than a thousand Passport users and park visitors” says Jason Scarpello, Eastern National creative director. “Two themes kept recurring: ‘more space for park cancellations!’ and ‘our kids love doing Junior Ranger Programs; it would be great if there were a place for those activities in the Passport kids’ version’. There was a clear opportunity to connect more families with park interpretive staff.”

In connecting the Passport program to NPS Junior Ranger programs, Eastern National hopes to inspire new generations of park stewards and offer park staff a new resource to enhance their Junior Ranger programs.  The books and stamps will be available at participating parks in time for Junior Ranger Day on April 21, 2018.  A Marketing Kit has been developed with graphics and images, social media content, signage, and other ideas for partners to help announce the new book.
